Human juvenile delinquency is the result of the ethic

Human
beings manage the justice system, and most human beings are subject to being
wrong in some manner.  It is where the
phrase “we are only human” meaning we, human beings are subject to make
mistakes.  Some individuals have a racial
agenda or are simply racists themselves.  Racist is a strong word.  To be a racist, it means to have your heart
filled with hatred, and to; solemnly believe that your race is superior to all
and any before and after you. There is an indefinite stigma on people of color.
 Many African American
juveniles are the ones incarcerated because of issues that are not always legal
problems but rather a more personal agenda like racism and are constantly
reflecting no fault in the Criminal Justice System.

Lower
class communities are the ones targeted the most because African American
juveniles live in these neighborhoods because they cannot afford to live
anywhere else.  The constant stigma
towards African American juveniles is that they have no stability at home and
constantly abuse drugs as well as have poor education for their kids.  Due to these stigma’s they fall under a scale
in which they are immediately portrayed as individuals who commit deviant
behavior yet are actually honest and hardworking people.  According to Farrell, he states that the
reason for juvenile delinquency is the result of the ethic and low economic
socialization (p.20). Since the beginning of time, we  were instilled the notion that white is the
equivalent of all things good such as an angel and black or dark colors a
symbol of evil such as demons.  Overtime,
catch phrases have been taught to keep people stuck in this idea such as white
is right and black is wack.  People of
color will always have the stigma of being wrong doers, as the color of their
skin is always be seen as wrong.  “In
Delinquency in society”, it states that the product of poverty and racial discrimination
is what shapes the juvenile delinquency (p.20).

  The social
disorganization theory is when the crime rates are linked to neighborhood
ecological characteristics.  An important
factor is that place matters in disorganization theory, which details that a
person is a product of society, but individuals are influenced by their
surroundings.  Mainly focuses on poor
communities and their impact on crime rates/social disorder (Fuller, p.146).  This theory best describes my
argument because when living in a disorganized environment, you are bound to be
influence by other individuals that commit deviant activities in your
surroundings.  It has been proven that
our environment can sway our judgment.  For
instance look at the theory of nature verse nurture. Of course, there will
always be an exception to the rule that begin nurture; but it has shown that
“nature” or for our agreement, environment has an effect of how people act.  If we constantly subject someone to a specific
environment they will change their outlook and act the way social normal are
represented in that environment which in this case is deviant behavior.

A movie
in which this theory is depicted in would be Trading Places directed by John
Landis.  The movie is about an arrogant
investor and a devious street con artist finds their positions reversed as part
of a bet by two coldhearted millionaires.  The con artist is a black man who grew up in a
poor community and commits deviant acts where the investor is a white man who
lived in a wealthy community and has the world at his fingertips.  The movie shows how due to a bet between to
millionaires they make the wealthy white man become poor and lose everything.  By changing the white man’s environment, he then
becomes subject to deviant behavior despite his previous good education and
values.  The white man values changes
once he was put in a poor man’s environment.  On the other hand, the uneducated black man
who was use to a life of deviant behavior now in a wealthy and supportive
environment becomes the model citizen.  The
black man no longer committed deviant behavior even when put to the test to
steal like he use to do when he was poor, would see no need to commit such
crimes.  Ultimately, their environment
causes them to change or reverse roles proving social
disorganization theory.

Clifford
Shaw and Henry McKay define deviant behavior as, “the core values of society
would be sorely tested and strained by persistent poverty, rapid population
growth, population heterogeneity, and population movement.  They hypothesized that delinquency rates would
be higher in unstable zones and lower in stable zones.” (p.145). Therefore,
living a lower class community where the majority of minorities reside in, the
outcome of you overcoming your surroundings is very few to none.  Doing delinquent behavior becomes a norm
within these communities because to them this is normal and sees no wrong.  Yet to the rest of the world will see the
wrongfulness.

In
the juvenile justice system, the purpose of it is so that you rehabilitate these
young adults back into society as upstanding citizens.  The huge disparity in the juvenile justice
system between the African American youth from the Caucasian youth brings the
uncertainty of whether they are treated equally.  According to
the Bureau of Justice Statistics, “one in three black men can expect to go to
prison in their lifetime.”  This
demonstrates that people of color continue to have a disproportionate amount of
encounters with the law enforcement showing that racial profiling is still a
problem.  African Americans
juveniles have been struggling with racial profiling, being targets and being
put in jail for social factors rather legal problems.  Being that there is such a huge amount of
juvenile incarcerations in people of color, they are more likely to be put into
adult prisons.  According to the Sentencing Project, “even though African American
juvenile youth are about 16 percent of the youth population, 37 percent of
their cases are moved to criminal court and 58 percent of African American
youth are sent to adult prisons.”

 

 

 Communities are constructed and built for
families of color and minimum wealth, yet these are the same communities that
are raided by anyone but a same race cop.  Police, the news, our own mental construct of
society confides African Americans into this belief that this community of
poverty and violence is their only option.  Some eventually falling to the habits they
were surrounded by.  According to recent data by the Department of
Education, “African American students are arrested far more often than their
white classmates are”.  The statistics
show 96,000 students arrested and 242,000 referred to law enforcement by schools
during the 2009-10 school years.  The fact
that the schools give harsh punishment from suspensions to arresting the students
that is reason as to why there is huge number of kids of color being put in the
juvenile justice system at an early age.  The kids are being kicked out of school where they
go outside and are influenced by those other individuals doing delinquent
behavior.

Outsiders
looking in will feel disgusted and attribute it subjectivity, meaning they
think, well this is where they belong selling drugs, getting arrested, shooting
up grocery stores, being participants of domestic violence.  Assuming minorities are always deviant and
will always participate in deviant behavior incapacitates the youth of the
society.  Our social media outlets such
as the news stations also do this.  They
will report more about crimes committed by a person of color in low income
communities than a crime committed by a white privilege person. This keeps
people stuck in the bubble society has created for the people of color that
they are no better.  If news outlets
would report more about white crimes than society would have differences views
but it is hardly the case.  It all stems
back to the fact that people of color will always been seen for just that there
color before they’re seen for anything else.  Because they are judge for their skin color
they cant escape their low income surrounding.  If a person of color were to try to leave
their low income community to enter a more middle to higher class community,
they would be blacked ball or misjudge not allowing them to surpass their
environment; keeping them stuck.  

These poor neighborhood in which
African American juveniles live in are excessively policed patrolled compared
to those richer neighborhood knowing that they actually have higher crime
rates.  The mixture of minorities living
in these poor neighborhoods that are often policed is a consequence of them
being arrested more than white individuals are.  So essentially the neighborhood in which they
live in is what causes these individuals to receive the punishment but not only
because of the color of their skin.  You
begin to believe and become immune to the stigma of you not being able to get
out, because this is where you were born and so this is where you will always
be.  Thus, making this stigma true
because they are influenced to commit delinquency.  The majority of minorities that have lived in
poor neighborhoods have gotten out because of the simple fact that eventually
this delinquent behavior will get to you because it is the only form of
survival in these kinds of neighborhoods.  Eventually, influenced by your surroundings
because the only thing you know so it becomes the norm to commit delinquent
actions.
 Instead these minorities go through
harsh punishment and come out worse than they original went in.  Therefore, when they go out to the real world
after doing their time, they fall back in the same situation that original got
them into jail in the first place.  No
jobs that want to give these minorities a chance at working because they have a
criminal record.  They go back to the
same neighborhood same environment doing the same things that got them in jail
in the first place. 

Overall, juveniles
are influence by their environment / community therefore they commit delinquent
behavior.  Delinquent behavior is a
learning behavior and it comes from the interactions and influences that the
individual has encountered.  Other
factors that also contribute to this delinquent behavior can be your community,
environment, family relationships, and money problems as previously
demonstrated.  When a juvenile is
consistently labeled to be something they aren’t then they will start to
believe it over time causing them to commit the delinquency which sets the
prophecy to be fulfilled of their criminal activities.  Everyone deserves a second chance.  An individual should not be less because of
the color of their skin.  If our justice
system were equal to all races, we would not have this disparity in our jail
